Sounds more like the SJWs list of races that changed the world. First "woman this", "first African American that", "inclusive", "diverse" LOL. Everything these days is seen through the lense or race and gender. How about actually showing races that changes swimming as a sport. People's gender and race are irrelevant. Yikes.

Carolyn Woods – Rome 1960 – the women's 100m Butterfly final. She was favourite to win, but on the turn she surfaced and literally breathed in 2 full lungs of water. She nearly drowned. it was due to the lane ropes not absorbing the wash. After that FINA introduced the wave-breaking lane ropes that we now regard as standard. It's not a great win, but it was certainly a race that changed swimming forever.
