  2. Bobbing and floating were huge for me. Also getting in a couple times a week consistently

  3. Never had any desire to learn to swim for exercise tho my 7 children were age group swimmers. Had no fear, and could do sidestroke etc. Then 8 years ago had total hip replacement on both sides. No more running. Did rehab in pool and went to water aerobics for 8 years before realizing if I wanted to up my cardio, I needed to learn to swim laps. Asked my oldest daughter who came to visit and was a certified swim instructor if she would teach . Role reversal and lots of laughter but after 3 lessons I was able to do a credible 25 yd lap of freestyle, at 85. Have always had linebacker shoulders which is good as I have little leg power. My biggest issue is breath control as I have chronic asthma. This is the main reason I was reluctant to try swimming, as it is harder for an asthmatic person than running. However, it really is both fun and a challenge so don』t be afraid to try it no matter what your age.

  4. I learned to swim when I was 52 years old. It is a challenge lowering the anxiety of being in the water. I'm still not totally comfortable in the water, but I'm getting there.

  7. I started swimming during the Labor Day weekend. I don't know why I never thought to buy a pair of goggles until I reached the age of 55, but my inner swim fiend was unleashed. I got a Y membership so I could swim in a proper lap pool (and I even started working there last month). My Swim Pro was key to training myself in the early days. I've taken one round of swimming lessons and start another round next month. Until then, I'm watching Whiteboard Wednesday videos to improve my streamline and to start working on my dolphin kicks.

  8. I』ll recommend this to my mom (64). She feels she』s too old to learn. 「You can』t teach an old dog new tricks」. I believe this may help her with her lack of confidence and maybe anxiety when trying to learn how to swim.
